Diagnostic Peripheral Joint Injections
Pain involving peripheral joints (hip, shoulder, elbow, wrist, foot and ankle) can cause problems for patients and clinicians alike. Multiple small joints and tendons in close proximity, such as in the foot and ankle may cause overlapping and confusing patterns of pain, which can cause delays in diagnosis and treatment. Selective injections of the peripheral sites suspected of causing pain can be performed with steroids and anesthetic to both identify the source of pain and provide pain relief. By blocking the pain signals our doctors at Southwest Spine & Sports can determine the source of a patient’s pain and diagnose the best treatment necessary.
