Dear Dr. Wolff – I have been a patient at Southwest Spine & Sports for many years. I wanted to let you know of the remarkable care that I have continued to receive from your complete staff, but especially Dr. Lee & Dominique. You should be extremely proud of your entire staff. I thank you and your staff for your continued help & support!

Dr. Sherman – here is to looking up to you and thanking you so much for working with me over the past 13 months. You are awesome and compassionate.
— G.G.
I became a patient of Dr. K around the middle of March 2013 where I saw her for back pain and Sciatic nerve issues. She has done a wonderful job of taking care of me and I have no back issues or Sciatic nerve issues. She has done a great job and is a great doctor.
—Chuck H.
After many years of suffering with sever back pain, I found myself unable to walk more than fifteen minutes without having to stop. Recently retired (2 years), and being in my sixties, I was frightened that the quality of my life had deteriorated over the last few years. I had been referred to numerous specialists and had experienced many tests, X-rays, MRI’s and epidurals with no results.
At last, I was referred to you for a appointment. You diagnosed my problem immediately from my MRI and scheduled the epidural. From the time of this injection, I received relief. I am now pain free and can walk as far as my husband and dogs.
Words cannot express how grateful my husband and I are for your medical expertise. I had been searching for this help for years. In fact my husband has an appointment to see you this month for his back pain.
You have made a difference in the quality of my life. Thank you.
—Maureen T.
Hi Dr. Lee! Thanks for your concerns on my behalf! I appreciate your candor and continued concerns! You pulled me out of my doldrums! Thanks again!!!
—Jay C.
Dear Dr. K,
About a year ago you examined and treated me for pain and numbness in my left arm & shoulder. The pin-point injections you administered gave me some much appreciated temporary relief, but more importantly, the results from the nerve test you performed & an MRI of my shoulder convinced the Orthopedic Surgeons back home that the problem was not with my shoulder… My road to being pain-free started with you last March and I’m very grateful for that!
Thanks again,
—Kathy M.
I want to thank Dr. Kumaraswamy for care of my lower back pain. The procedure was quick and relatively painless. The results were awesome, I haven’t felt this good in 20 years. My new mobility has allowed me to do more and has resulted in a weight loss of 30 lbs. I would recommend her and the center to anyone who is experiencing back pain.
—Raul R.
I have seen pain management doctors for to many years but none that have shown the care and compassion that Dr Wolff has shown me. More importantly he has given me significant pain relief and I am now able to walk for the most part without a cane or walker. No other doctor has been able to give me that relief. I have been on multiple pain medications previously and am now down to only one. Thank you Dr. I would also like to thank your entire staff for the respect and kindness they show me on each visit.

I have the opportunity to come to Southwest Spine and Sports every 4 months under a Work Comp arrangement. Every time I come to see Doctor Sherman, whether it is in Tempe or Scottsdale, I am repeatedly reminded of how fortunate I am to have found the services of such a caring medical team. Everyone in both offices is extremely kind and caring while maintaining the utmost professionalism. Dr. Sherman is a great humanitarian and I would highly recommend him and his staff to everyone who is in need of a totally positive experience in health care. I always feel better when I leave, and I assure you that I have had to seek medical services often for my shoulder in the past several years and that feeling is not the usual outcome. I have meant to offer a testimonial every time I leave the office and now that I will be coming in again in a couple weeks, I have finally given you all the praise you deserve. Thank you.

Thinking about having my FOURTH back surgery made me physically ill, but the pain was so intense, I didn’t feel I had any other options. Then, my doctor’s nurse told me about Dr. Wolff and injections for the pain. I had already had pain injections before my third surgery and had no relief, so I was very skeptical as to more injections. But, fearing surgery more than an injection, I scheduled an appointment. First and mainly, this office was much different than the other Dr. that scheduled my other injections.
I was counseled by Dr. Wolff and told that this was not a cure, but a way to manage my pain and hopefully help me to avert surgery. I was still doubtful, based upon my prior experience, but agreed to try. I could not believe how I felt when I walked out of the Surgery Center – pain free and it continued that way for several weeks, and just a small amount of pain for the next 5 months. I was so pleased – I wasn’t taking any pain medication and with a few injections about 5-6 months apart, I still remain relatively pain free.
Would I recommend this method of treatment? ABSOLUTELY YES!! And the injections were “no big deal!” Many thanks to Dr. Wolff and his staff – I feel like I have a new lease on life!
— C.G.

Dr Jones calls me his “rock star”. I was in a terrible car accident in 1992. I have had 3 major surgeries on my spine. Two of them at one of the top 10 hospitals for spinal injuries. I chose to have surgery at the University of Michigan because I worked with spinal injuries there at the time of my accident. My accident left me unable to work. I can’t even count all the places and pain clinics I went to looking for something other than more surgery and narcotics to manage my pain. I now have days that are pain free! I didn’t even think that was possible after suffering for so long. Dr Wolf and Dr Jones have done more than manage my pain. They gave me my life back. I never thought I would be able to go see the Grand Canyon with out using my wheel chair. I am so happy to say I did! I haven’t used my wheel chair since I started treatment here. My family couldn’t believe the difference it has made for me. Three of my family members now go to SW Spine and Sport. I just got a call from my grandmother. My grandfather had his first treatment yesterday and for the first time in months he can stand up straight! He was out doing yard work. lol My mother broke her back a year ago. She was going to another pain clinic that just kept doing the same thing with minimal results. Now after getting the RF from Dr Jones she feels great! Thank you to everyone at SW Spine and Sport for helping my family and giving me my life back!
Wendy G.
Dear Dr. Lee,
Thank you so much for all of your care and patients in treating my hips – I truly appreciate it.
I am back to my regular ballet schedule for the first time since November or December; I am so excited!
Thank you again.
Best, Lindsey A.
Thank you Dr. Lee,
I appreciate all you’ve done for me (injections, test, etc) while attempting to relieve my back pain. You were always gentle & knowledgeable and always had a smile. Thank you & your staff for all you’ve done to help me.
Best,
Ellen G.
The acupuncture has made a significant difference in reduction of the pain and the extent of the locality of the pain. After the third treatment, I noticed how much better I felt. Thank you so much Dr. Lee.
Ellen G. – Patient of Dr. Lee
Thank you,
Barbara D. – Patient of Dr. Lee
Dear Dr. Wolff,
I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know that Gretchen has been very helpful with my back/leg injury and pain. On my last visit to your office, she took a lot of time talking to my wife and me, showing me the injury on the MRI photographs, explaining the mechanics of how the injury was affecting me, and presenting options for future treatment of the injury. She conducted a physical exam to eliminate some possible causes for the pain and try to identify exactly what was causing the pain.
In this day and age, health care providers don’t often take the time for detailed conversations with their patients; Gretchen is an exception. She is very thorough and an asset to your office.
Bill and Lynette E.
I had been dealing with an achilles tendon issue for almost 2 years. I had been to specialists, including a surgeon that could not help me. I went to Dr. Wolff had 1 PRP injection in my achilles and was back to running in a 4 weeks was able to participate in a physical agility test for work about 2 months later. I was limping for close to 2 years, 1 shot later and I was back to normal. Thanks Again.
Steve P.
Hello Dr. Sherman,
I just wanted to take a minute to share my Ironman success with you. I honestly feel that without the combined efforts of you and Matt I would not have had as successful a day as I did. Virtually pain free, I finished the race in 11 hours and 59 minutes!!! If you remember I told you, 12 hours would be a good day, 13 hours is what I expected and 14 hours would mean something went wrong. Well, I exceeded all that and felt fantastic!! I owe a big part of my being an Ironman to you.
Thanks for everything (hope I don’t have to see you soon),
Melissa T.
Good morning Doctor Sherman,
You asked that I keep you updated on my condition and I am very pleased to tell you that the results with your help have been outstanding. I have had one Bursa injection and one each left and right side S I joint injections. Today I can actually walk without pain and I feel the best that I have for over a year and a half. Thank you so much.
Robert C.
P.S. (from Alma C.) – I just want to thank you for giving me back my husband; he is actually more himself these past two weeks than I’ve seen him in two years. It has been a blessing to have you on Robert’s team of pain relief. Keep up the great work for all your patients.
Dr. Wolff,
I just wanted to take a few minutes to thank you and your staff for what may be a very routine procedure for you, but for me it is something that has given me the ability to recapture my life.
Before coming to your office, I had previously had three operations and numerous injections on my lower back. I was in constant and chronic pain and been out of work for the last eight months due to taking fairly large amounts of medication daily. I was angry at the world, my doctors and my place of employment. I did not know if I would ever be able to return to my career of law enforcement of fourteen years.
I sat in my home, wanting to do things with my four boys and my wife, but knowing that I would not be able to enjoy myself due to the excruciating pain that was just a part of my life. So I sat in my chair, watching the world go by, becoming more depressed every day.
When I came to your office on the very first day of my evaluation, I was met by possibly the kindest medical staff I have ever had the privilege to meet. They were professional yet understanding. I was listened to and felt like I mattered.
After my final treatment, the very next day I felt such a difference in the level of pain that it was unbelievable! I didn’t dare believe that this could be a lasting treatment as so many in the past would work for a week or two at the most. When I flew home to Florida, and after two weeks had passed, I woke up on a Saturday morning and I looked at my wife as we were getting ready to go somewhere, and I began to cry. She asked what was wrong and I said to her “it’s like waking up from a ten year nightmare” I just couldn’t believe that I was still one hundred percent pain free.
It has been over a month now since you and your staff performed what I deem a miracle for me. I am still pain free, I am back to my duties as detective with the sheriff’s department, I am enjoying watching my youngest sons football practices, and am spending more quality time with my wife.
I am not a religious man normally; I have seen things that make one question such a thing. But I do thank God for you and what you have give back to me sir. I can never repay what you have given me, but thank you so much.
David P.
P.S. I’m going to enjoy the gator hunt.
I have seen Dr. Wolff and his PA Gretchen for many years now. They have been my most trusted source of information and treatment for my lower spine issues. Both portray a high level of knowledge and professionalism. Dr. Wolff is always on the cutting edge when it comes to new treatments and developing a strong game plan to get you back into life. Gretchen has also been a light at the end of the tunnel for me when it comes to my treatment and guiding me in the right direction. I cannot say enough good things about these two people and what they have done for me.
Thank you both for always being there for me, Steve H.
From the time I made my first appointment with Dr. Wolff and his Staff, I was received warmly and professionally. All my questions were answered and I chose to have Spine Injections. My pain was from a car accident in April 2010. There were times I could not sleep or walk. The pain was persistent. I was a little nervous going in to have the Injections. Even a little worrying is a waste of time. I talked to the Doctor throughout the Injections. It has been 3 weeks since the Injections, and I sleep through the night and I walk 3 miles each morning, five times a week. Thank you!
John A.
Dr. Wolff’s new procedure with stunning the nerves was amazing, I have had lower back pain for several years and have taken pills, had injections with minimal relief. But with this new procedure, I have been a lot more active and able to hit the gym and many other activities that before were very painful to do. Thanks Dr. Wolff.

In Nov 2007, I began to notice a recurring pain that started in my left hip and radiated down my leg. By Feb 2008, it had become excruciating and the only position that didn’t increase the pain, was standing up. I couldn’t find a comfortable position in which to sleep, and for 2 weeks the only way I could get any sleep at all, was to sit in a recliner. I went to my Dr for advice, and started on a quest that lasted over 2 years.
I was sent to a neurologist, then an orthopedic surgeon, an orthopedic spine surgeon, a pain management specialist, a deep-tissue massage therapist, an acupuncturist, and then back to a third orthopedic surgeon. I have had X-rays of my hip and spine, a bone scan and a full body scan, MRI’s of my spine, hip, knee and foot. I have been through 3 different series of physical therapy with three different types of therapists, had 2 sacroiliac joint-block steroid injections, 4 acupuncture sessions, 6 months of therapeutic massage, and finally an electromyogram and nerve conduction study (I thought I’d stepped into Dr Frankenstein’s laboratory by mistake!) Finally, the third orthopedic surgeon said he couldn’t think of anything I hadn’t already tried, and suggested I go to Southwest Spine & Sports because he thought they might have knowledge of other things that could help.
I almost didn’t go, because I had tried so many things, spent so much time and money and, although it was slightly better, the pain was still there…I was very discouraged. I told my husband that I was done, and was just going to learn to live with it, but he urged me to at least go for a consultation at SW Spine & Sports before making that decision. I’m so glad he did!
That’s when I met Dr Jonathan Komar. I believe he may be the first Dr who actually looked at the films I’d been carting from Dr to Dr (I think the others just relied on the written report from the radiologists) and in the very first MRI, that had been done two years earlier, he found a very small bulge in an area of the lower spine that he thought might be putting pressure on two major nerves that run down the leg, in exactly the pain pattern I’d been describing for 2.5 years. He said that was not even mentioned in the original radiologist’s written report! He suggested an epidural steroid injection in that area, I agreed, he did it, and the PAIN IS GONE!
Thank you Dr Komar… in my book, you are truly a Superhero!
Very Gratefully, Mary Milne
In my view Dr. Michael Wolff walks on water. Using various techniques he has allowed me to travel extensively without the use of my mobility scooter.
Dr. B
I suffered from low back pain due to degenerative disc disease and arthritis in my hip. The hip pain caused me to wake up at nights. Dr. Wolff was recommended to me by my hip surgeon. After two injections in my hip, one for the joint and another for bursitis (which I did not know I had) my hip pain was totally gone and I can now sleep on my left side without ever waking up. My back pain also improved a lot. Dr. Wolff has a very personal and pleasant way to interact with patients, his confidence makes one feel at ease. I can highly recommend Dr. Wolff and I will continue to seek his help.

To whom it may concern:
I just want to say Thank you so much to the staff at Southwest Spine & Sports. I have had back problems for years and just lived with it until I could no longer do it. Dr. Sherman and his staff are wonderful. The are always so pleasant and willing to help. After Dr. Sherman completed the procedure on my lower back just as he explained in detail to me, and now it is like a new beginning. Everyone bent over backwards to work with my Insurance Co and my work so I could have the best chance for a full recovery. I highly recommend Dr. Sherman and his team for any problems you might have.
Thanks again to everyone, Nanette
Bob & I wanted to give you an extra special thank you for your help in making us feel better. We’re so glad we found you!!
Thanks again,
Ramona & Bob D.
Your caring, prompt assistance allowed me to have a much more comfortable weekend.
With sincere gratitude,
Linda S.
In 2005 was the first sign of extreme low back pain. After years of trying to self heal September 2007 I finally went to see Dr. Komar.
Dr. Komar ordered an MRI and follow-up office visit along with some pain medication to help a long the way. After physical therapy and anti-inflammatory medication I was 85% pain free.
May 2008 my back returned I decided to try chiropractic with no relief I went to natural pathetic/chiropractic as things began to get worse I went to see a world renown spinal surgeon along with two more spinal surgeons that all recommended the same treatment of open back surgery with fusion and no guarantees of any kind. In early February 2009 I decided to go back to the Doctor who provided me with the most relief Dr. Komar.
This was the smartest decision I had made Dr. Komar welcomed me with kindness, positive encourgement and great concern about my back. He followed all protocols of epidural steroid injections, followed by a discography test.
With the results of the discography test he recommended a procedure (IDET) Intradiscal Electrothermal Annuoplasty. I decided to trust Dr. Komar and his expertise and I could not be any happier although my insurance did not cover the full procedure cost it was well worth the cost I came out of pocket. It has been 6months since the IDET procedure I have had amazing results. Before I could only sit, stand, walk for 10-15mintues now an hour is not a problem. I had nerve compression 24hours a day and it now completely gone. I had severe pain to the point I just wanted to stay home. Now 6 months later I am careful about my activities but I now able to workout doing treadmill incline walking for 50 minutes and I just start the Stairmaster machine and can do this for 20 minutes which the beginning of year I had a difficult time getting out of bed. I do have pain but not enough to keep me home and through medications and careful movements I can keep my pain under control.
My family and I could never thank Dr. Komar enough he has helped me get my life back. I know now if I get any flare up at all the first call I make is to Southwest Spine.
Paula M. Scottsdale, Arizona
My experience with Doctor Sherman and the staff at Spine and Sports in the Tempe location was truly wonderful! I have been having back pain for a few years, now and finally decided to go see some one to try and help me figure out the problem. Dr. Sherman was so helpful from the start, he listened to me and was very caring about my situation. He took action right from the start and wanted to help me with rehabilitation and trying to keep me from having to have back surgery of any kind. I went in for a spinal injection about a month ago to see if this would help with the pain and it has been a big help! I truly recommend this procedure for any one that needs some relief of back pain! My night pain was so bad and this has changed a great deal sense this procedure was done like day and night! Dr, Sherman did a great job, and he made sure I followed up after the injection was done. I will continue to visit the office when needed and again I can’t say enough about my experience with this Doctor! I believe if I had not found Dr. Sherman, that I still would not know what was wrong he did all the right steps in finding out the problem. My Diagnosis is I have a Bulging disc and im happy to know the problem finally!! He is helping with this problem I have, and I am so Thankful for his effort! I recommend Dr. Sherman to any one in need of back pain and the Southwest Spine and Sports center.
Sincerely, Karla L.
Dr Komar was great, as was the physician assistant. They asked me a lot of very good questions and made observations no one has ever made in the past. It’s the first time I’ve felt someone (besides my family doctor) really cared about me as a person and how difficult a road this has been for me since this all started back in 1973.
Sincerely, Dean A.
A few weeks ago I was able to do something that I hadn’t been able to do for at least two years……work in my yard and trim the bushes. Wow, this was wonderful and all because of coming to Southwest Spine and Sports.
I had gotten to the point that I couldn’t ride in a car my than an hour and that was really pushing it. Sitting was a real problem and if I went out to dinner with friends, I would have to excuse myself several times just to walk around. I have three compressed discs in my lower spine and three in my neck that are compressed.
I had the medial branch block done on the right side of my neck and then after that the radiofrequency ablation. That was a success and I then moved forward and had the same procedures done on the left side of my neck. Now, I can do craft projects and read for more than the fifteen minutes that was my max time before the procedures.
Then Dr. Wolff started on the low back and did the medial branch block on the left side of my low spine. After being sure that those were the right places, he did the radiofrequency ablation on the left side.
That weekend I did yardwork and didn’t have all the pain that I used to have. I literally have not been able to do this type of thing for over two years. And with my crafts, I teach a class and after the class was over, I would have to go to bed for an hour or so just to relieve the pain.
Many thanks Dr. Wolff. I’m glad to know that you are there should I need you for another procedure some place else.
Shirley C.
My name is David. I am 72 and a retired attorney. In my retirement I have entertained myself thoroughy by landscaping an acre property which involved endless grading through use of a pickax, the construction of an embankment involving the movement by shovel and wheel barrel of 60 tons of fill, the covering of the entire lot by the spreading by shovel and wheel barrel of 400 tons of a crushed granite ground cover and the planting of countless trees, desert plants, etc.
My age caught up with me abruptly in February, 2009, when I awoke one day with such excruciating pain in my neck area, both shoulders and both legs that I could barely move my head, arms and legs. Pain medication did nothing to abate my agony. After consulting with a number of pysicians over a span of several months, none of whom were able to make a diagnosis, it was suggested that I see Michael W. Wolff, M.D. of Southwest Spine & Sports.
From the outset, I developed a feeling that my pain had met its match. I received the most thorough examinations and testing I have ever encountered, administered by young physicians, who, fulfilling their fellowships under Dr. Wolff’s tutelage and close scrutiny, collected sufficient information to permit Dr. Wolff to come to a diagnosis and plan of action. In short order, with innovative non surgical procedures administered by Dr. Wolff, my pain did not just lessen; it totally subsided. Other patients who I met in the waiting area voiced similar accolades regarding Dr. Wolff and his colleagues.
I would be remiss if I didn’t comment on Dr. Wolff’s support staff. From the time that you enter the office you are greeted by and administerd to by highly trained individuals whose demeaners make you feel welcome and whose talents process you in a most efficient manner.
David B.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart! You may not remember me, but I came to you hardly able to walk, as for over a year my doctor had said I had a bad back- even though my back didn’t hurt. I came to you, x-ray was taken, and you did an intraarticular injection. I was in great pain! You suggested my problem was my right hip. You were correct. Twelve weeks ago today, Dr. Longo did a complete hip replacement. I needed no pain meds after the surgery, or since. I am now able to do anything I want except aerobics. I used a walker for 1 week, a cane for 1 week, and that was it. If it were not for you, who knows what may have happened. Thank you!!
Judy P.
I had to write and thank you- not only for your expertise- but your patience and bedside manner. I’ve referred many people to you because, all in all, you do great things. I hope I can come back for the PRP injection soon.
Regards, Paula D.
I hope this letter finds you well. I was one of your patients from the fall/winter 2006 through spring of 2007, and I am writing to give you an update on how things are going. As quick refresher, you saw me for tendonitis in both my arms caused by too much keyboard and mouse usage while I was working for the U.S. Navy in San Diego. I also saw you for issues with my lower back and legs. I want to reiterate how much I appreciated your attentive and compassionate care.
Sincerely, Ed C.
Dear Dr. Wolff- You’re my hero!! I LOVE YOU!!
Gratefully, Mary S. PS- Translation… I have almost no pain in my left leg!!
Following my recent visit to your office and my subsequent procedure, I wanted to pass along my thanks to all at Southwest Spine and Sports. From a medical standpoint, it appears to have been an unqualified success, as I am back working out and playing golf, pain-free. Perhaps more importantly, from a personal experience it was an unqualified success as well. In our own business we try very hard to about give our clients not only the benefit of our professional expertise and results, but to provide them with a pleasant, caring, easy, comfortable and convenient experience. So, I am probably oversensitive to that in others. Frankly, it is rare to find a health care provider who shares those same values. However, you clearly “get it” and I commend you and thank you all for that. Gretchen elicited not only great confidence in her knowledge and ability but great comfort by treating me warmly, like a unique individual with unique circumstances and unique lifestyle goals (all this despite the fact she has probably seen hundreds of patients with my same nagging old-guy back problem). I had a similar experience with all of the people I met and dealt with there. Although I didn’t have the opportunity of meeting Dr. Wolff, I can only assume that this culture starts there. Although I would like to think I would not need your services again, chances are that I will, and I will not hesitate to do so; nor to recommend you to any of my sporting / aging friends.
Thank you. David W.
Best wishes for you and your family in 2009! I can’t thank you enough for giving me my life back! Be well-you are an amazing doctor.
Roger H.
Greetings to Dr. Komar, Michael Bumanglag, and staff–Just a short note to thank you for your services, kindness, and patience during my back treatments. You were all great and I greatly appreciate you all.
Janice Z.
Just wanted to drop you a note regarding the examination I had with Dr. Sherman and procedure with Dr. Wolff on my sore leg caused by a bulging disc in my back. The epidural I received was painless and worked immediately on the pain that I had in my leg for months. Physical therapy helped, but in the end, the epidural was what I needed. Thank you for the relief.
I also just completed an examination on my shoulder by Dr Wolf. Had an ultrasound pinpointing exactly what needed to be done, and finally an injection by Dr. Sherman (a so called rookie) which was painless and I had immediate results in a reduction in pain. Thank you.
At first I didn’t realize that SW Spine and Sports helped with all pain management, I thought it was only spine. Nice to know that you can assist in a non-surgical approach to the management of pain.
Lee P.
Going to your medical facility is the first time in my life that I’ve ever enjoyed visiting a doc. Your entire staff is terrific, which is a great reflection on their employer.
Best Regards.
Jim S.
I have been a patient of Dr. Wolff and Gretchen Post since December. When you have an illness and are in pain, half the battle is won when you find professionals you can trust. I feel I receive excellent care and am being treated in the most appropriate way. I would recommend them to anyone.
JoAnn M.
Just a heartfelt note to let you all know how much your kindness & support has meant to me. Since the spine L Fusion, it has been difficult, but I know there is a rainbow at the end of this ordeal. J Please let everyone know, including Carolyn, that your office is a joy & you all seem to bring a smile to my face. God Bless & I’m sure I’ll see you soon!
Fondly, Lindsey H.
This is not an idle expression of my thanks. It is as heartfelt as I know how to convey it. Today, just 24 hours after her procedure with you, Vinceanne left the house to attend a fashion show at the Four Seasons. She looked like a spirited, glowing princess. She felt like the healthy person I long for her to be. We have put in place your instructions. I realize we have a challenge that will continue to test us. But you have given us a fresh start. And I’m more grateful than you can imagine.

You are the best! No pain at all in groin area- I’ll send anyone to see you when they problems.
Thanks again, Kathleen K.
Once again you have worked your magic. In less than 48 hours you had me feeling like a teenager.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. Sam J.
Thanks to you both. I have walked around a pyramid, climbed to see the Sphinx, went in a hot air balloon, which was some feat (you have to climb a ladder to get in and out), went to the Valley of the Kings, and walked almost 3 hours in and through the Temple of Karnak, and up hills to Abu Simbel. Everything else is frosting on the cake. Thanks again.
Davida W.
I was so excited to hear that Dr Wolff was going to have a website and that I could let everyone know about my experiences with Dr Wolff and those wonderful people he works with. Four years ago, when I started the process with doctors trying to get rid of my pain, I was sent to Dr. Wolff by my primary care physician. He helped me initially with injections and many other treatments while working towards finding a way to end my pain. He got me set up with a surgeon who, in hopes of solving my problem, removed my coccyx and part of my sacrum. The surgeon warned that in his experiences, the procedure would not end my pain. Unfortunately, he was right. When the surgery failed and I finally understood that I would not have a miracle cure, Dr Wolff took the time to listen to my worries and worked WITH me (instead of telling me how I felt — like so many other doctors had). He helped me get my life back by finding the right treatment plan and now I look forward to each and every day with my family. Gretchen, Dr. Wolff’s PA, is fantastic and the office staff really takes the time to get to know you and make you feel comfortable.
Thank you, Dr. Wolff.
Sincerely, Jennifer K.
We couldn’t be more pleased with the treatment we received from Dr. Wolff and his staff. Everyone–the doctors, physician assistants, nurses and office staff–treated us with the utmost kindness, compassion and respect.
The staff accommodated us with emergency appointments, and were always considerate of the fact that our visits require a 180-mile round trip drive from Payson. Dr. Wolff did an amazing job at diagnosing and treating my husband’s pain (after a car accident); when he wasn’t available, his assistants offered the same professionalism and expertise. My husband is now pain-free–and with minimally invasive treatment.
Dr. Wolff’s knowledge and his philosophy of finding the best possible, least invasive treatment was a great relief to us, both literally and all other ways. He is excellent at what he does. Our thanks also goes to the book-keeping staff who patiently helped us with insurance and Medicare. They handled our case with consideration and understanding, while waiting for a long-delayed settlement.
We highly recommend Southwest Spine and Sports for its excellent medical and technical skills and for its outstanding customer service.

I have had pain throughout my body since I was a teenager due to scoliosis and arthritis. In May of ’06 I had extreme back surgery, but still had significant pain. I was referred to Dr. Michael Wolff in May ’07. Because of his superlative care, his knowledge and willingness to try numerous medications and therapies, I am now getting my life back. He is devoted to his patients and relentless in making a difference in their health.
Vinceanne C. Scottsdale, AZ
Let me say that I am extremely happy with and very grateful for the results I have had as a result of your care. It is only with your help that I have been able to pursue two things important to me…downhill skiing and a general fitness program. You and your staff have always been a pleasure to work with.
Sincerely, Jerome L.
After 10 years of back pain, I thought I would have to “just live with it”. Dr Wolff, with compassion and expertise, worked with me and on me until I was pain free! This is something I never thought could be achieved.
Thank You so much Dr. Wolff!
Elie S.
I can’t find enough words to let you know how much I appreciate a doctor like you that actually cares about his patients. You have made it so I can enjoy my life again. I am still about 90% better than I was before I came to see you. Your staff is the best! Not only friendly, but caring! Love you all!
Ruth W. (Florida)
I want to thank you for all the help you have given me in the area of pain control. You have made such a difference in my life. It’s good to know I have you to turn to.
Thank you again, Denise S.
Thank you so very much for all the kindnesses shown to me and my family in the past weeks. I feel fortunate, or blessed, as I like to say, that I have been able to come to you as my doctor. I’ve had complete trust in you. Your staff members are excellent, too, from the girls at the desk in front, who greet with a smile (and that helps!), to the nurses and people in the back. My thanks to all of you.
Sincerely, Carolyn W.
Thank you, thank you, for being so very kind, and at the same time alleviating the pain in my back. I find you to be an excellent doctor & will mention you often.
Sincerely, Bev C.
Thank you for putting the joy back in my life. You and your staff are awesome. No More Pain

Just a few thoughts I wanted to express to you that I had after my office visit with you. As I told you, the decision about what to do for my left hip pain has been a difficult one for me. It seems that such a personal decision has been a hard one to make notwithstanding my educational level and my 24 years on the Industrial Commission bench. Maybe the forgoing makes it more difficult, I don’t know. Nevertheless, I want to tell you that it was great help, and reassuring, to me to know that you think I am making the right decision. Thank you for sharing your views with me.
I look forward to seeing you down the road, either on an industrial claim, or for other old age aches and pains that I may have.
Thank you again for you help and advice.
Very truly yours, James O.
Greetings to all,
Thank you for your great care. I was able to take this trip [postcard from Greece]! With no pain!
Margaret W.
I wanted to personally thank you for treating Edhem. I sincerely hope that I will have the opportunity to work with you again in the future. Youa re a kinda person and caring physician- I wish you and the “Wolff Pack” the very best.
Amy M. & Edhem M.
I would just like to tell you how much I appreciate your patience and professional behavior. It has taken a long time to really find out what was wrong. It has taken its toll on me, but hopefully now we have a path on how to correct it. Please don’t mistake my anger; it is only frustration. I have been more than happy with your treatment. I have been told since I got here that Arizona doesn’t have a very good medical field. I don’t think you have treated them. Your knowledge of my problem has been a great benefit to my understanding of this problem. I don’t think people realize how much of your off duty time goes into researching your field. I might only be one person, but from the bottom of my heart, thanks.
Sincerely, Dean S.
When I first came into the office, my pain was to the point where Dr. Komar could hardly understand me because of my crying. Now I’m back to being me and my life has changed in a large way. Thank you so much.
Ramona B.
I would like to say thank you for your time, knowledge, and experience with back problems of mine. My attorney told me how good it was for what you had to say in the hearing of the case about my back & the company that I used to work for. If and when I have any problems with my back, the company that I used to work for has to pay for all of my medical bills, because I got the judgment & award ruling in my favor.
“Thank you very much.” I really appreciate your help.
Todd C.
I’ve never written a letter to one of my doctors before, but I want you to know how grateful I am for the care you’ve given me over the last year. In your gentle and empathetic way, you listened to me and help me through one of the toughest years of my life. God bless you for your patience and your skill. My life is better for having known you. Thank you.
Love, Debbie L.
I really appreciate all that you have done for me. Your skills are matched by your “bed side manner.” Thank you!
Roger H.
With deep gratitude I send my thanks to you and your staff. Your help during the painful hours of my misbehaved sacroiliac joint was so appreciated.
Respectfully, Danielle S.
Thanks for your “kind and open” treatment!
Sincerely, Terry
Thanks for giving me my life back!
Rog H.
I truly appreciate the favor you are doing for me today. You are a superior doctor and an extraordinary human being. May God bless and keep you.
Fondly, Sandy W.
Thank you for all your help. I truly appreciate it!
Sincerely, Germaine K.
I just wanted to thank you for both your kindness and empathy every time I came to your office! You guys are the best! And I’m sure I’ll be talking to you soon!

I had a wonderful experience. Dr. Wolff and his staff listened and addressed all my concerns. After my injections I felt 100% better!!!

Pain is a symptom that creates confusion, nasty disposition, and reactions difficult to describe. That was how I was far too long a period. When Dr. Wolff first treated me for this condition, I was apprehensive. I had been to the Mayo Clinic and was told to take 2 Advil. I was given a shot of cortisone and sent home. The pain persisted. After one epidural with Dr. Wolff, 90% of my pain was gone. I cannot praise Dr. Wolff and his expertise enough for the relief I now have. Thank you!
Sincerely, Ralph B.
It has been 2+ weeks since you administered two injections – a hip and an epidural – to me. The result of these injections is that I have little to no pain in my right groin, the lower back pain, and accompanying sciatica is spasmodic, and the hip socket pain has been reduced by about 50%. The latter remains the primary source of my immobility and pain.
I imagine I am headed for surgical intervention in the future, but your treatment has been a great deal of help in the mean time. I realize that you fit me into your busy schedule at your inconvenience, and I appreciate your kindness.
Regards, Judith A.
PRP Therapy
Dr. Wolf, Thank you so very much for helping me to relieve the pain and regain the strength of my right arm. The PRP injection worked so well that I have almost no pain and my function is 85% better than before the procedure. Thank you for doing the PRP injection for me! Your office staff was professional and friendly, it was a pleasure to be a patient at Southwest Spine and Sports. Thanks again.
—Eric P.
At almost 90 years old one expects to have some pain… that changed last March with too much of a work out at the gym! After chiropractor manipulation offering some results, we turned to Dr Wolff. We went ahead with PRP treatment and several weeks later some Physical Therapy. My mother is back to being fit, no pain, no need of a second injection, as we originally thought, and soon will be back in the gym. Dr Wolff did not over promise, was realistic with us and the end result is fabulous. I expect my mother to be without pain for many years and if we have any problem will be right back to Dr Wolff, but hopefully not too soon!
Magda B.
I wanted to tell you how happy I am with the treatment I received from Dr Wolff and his staff- The PRP injection put me back in the saddle again- I was able to finish a 75 mile endurance ride on my horse this past November and several 50 mile rides since then with no pain in the “butt” so to say, due to my torn glut muscle. Dr Wolff and his staff are always so great! They take the time to meet with me and explain the options with the understanding that I am an athlete and I like to keep in shape and keep my fitness level high. I recently had my husband meet with them about a knee problem and they worked to help him with options for his knee issues. I strongly recommend him to anyone ! thanks for all you do Dr Wolff and staff!!!! My horse thanks you too!

Dr. Wolff, I wanted to send you a thank you because my right elbow is feeling awesome. I haven’t had this much strength in over 2 years. You truly are great at what you do. Thanks again for the pain free PRP injection.
Eric & Tammy P.
Dear Dr Wolff, I can’t thank you enough for everything you have done for me. I am now Back on the field pitching with absolutely no pain at all in my elbow. You truly are the real deal when it comes to PRP. My family and I cant thank you enough for what you have done.
Thanks again,
Colton T.
Called to say she just completed a 15 mile rescue mission at 6000 ft elevation change with a 45 pound rescue pack and had no pain. She wanted to say THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! She is a fan of PRP, and never expected her knees to feel better than they did before this all happened. She is so thrilled that we helped her. She can’t thank you enough.

Steve P.
Thanks to Dr. Wolff my chronic tennis elbow is gone. I can now use my arm and straighten it just as I did before my tennis elbow set in. I recommend it to everyone. Thanks for an alternative to surgery!!
Rebecca H.
Dear Dr Komar,
I wanted to express my heartfelt appreciation for your help in achieving one of my lifetime goals, completing an Ironman Triathlon. Without your help, I would not have been able to even participate in the event, no less complete this challenge.
A little background: Late last year, I began training for a “bucket-list” physical challenge that I had long dreamed of completing, a 140.6 mile Ironman Triathlon. About 3 months into that training, my goal to complete this event appeared nearly impossible. I had developed tendonitis in my right hip and physical therapy simply wasn’t relieving the pain. The thought of biking 112 miles and running 26.2 miles with that level of pain was unthinkable. Just as I began to fear that I’d be forced to give-up, Helen Basey, (a friend whom I truly respect and admire and just so happens to be your marketing coordinator), told me about your successes with the PRP procedure. Admittedly, I was quite skeptical. Physical therapy had been ineffective in addressing my pain, so how could a quick procedure and mere 2 week recovery period solve a condition that had turned into chronic pain?
You took the time to provide a detailed explanation of my tendonitis and how the PRP procedure works; you showed enormous patience in outlining the recovery process; you resolved my skepticism! So, 10 weeks prior to the triathlon event I scheduled the procedure. The results were even better than I had hoped. A fairly painless procedure, two weeks of recovery time, and I was back to running, biking, and swimming, with no pain. At this point, I consider you and your staff miracle workers!
I know that medical outcomes can be measured in many different ways. My measurement was simple – 140.6 mile Ironman Louisville completed in 14:45 (time) without the hip pain that had so impacted my daily life. Priceless!
Dr Komar, I am eternally grateful for what you did in helping me achieve my dream. The day I scheduled my initial consult at Southwest Spine and Sports I became a patient; today, I consider myself a true believer and friend.
Thank You! ~Kelli M
Dr Wolff,
I just wanted to give you a quick update on my foot:
My PRP injection was 15 weeks ago today. I resumed running 4 weeks and 4 days after the injection. I started with 10 minutes/day, 3 times/ week and then progressed slowly to 20 minutes/ day, 3 times/ week. I’m now running 46 miles/ week with 6 days of running/ week and a long run of 12 miles. This week I’m projected to total 50 miles/ week and will continue to progress my weekly mileage at a gradual rate. I’ve resumed track workouts, as well with no discomfort.
I’m still tender at times to palpate the medial border of my calcaneus, along the plantar surface (where the original pain was), but with less than 5 minutes of soft tissue work, the discomfort is significantly reduced. I don’t ever feel it when running! I guess that just means I shouldn’t touch my foot since that’s the only time it’s sore!!!
The most significant reason for this update is to tell you that I raced again on Saturday, for the first time since the injection! I did a 5K near Huntington Beach, CA. My time was less than stellar, but it felt so good to register for a race, pin a number on, and get to compete again! I had no idea what to expect for a finish time, since I hadn’t raced in over 8 months and knew it wouldn’t be fast, but I was happy with the result nonetheless and look at it as a new starting point, as I try to get quicker and regain my running fitness.
I wanted to thank you for everything. I know that without the PRP injection, I would not be back to racing yet! Faster results are indeed ahead!!!
Suzy
I have had hip problems for the past 2 years. Every treatment during that time period helped for a little while but was not lasting. On February 1, 2009, Dr. Wolff gave me an injection utilizing my platelets and plasma. The results have been fantastic (90% better).
Sincerely, Ann Q.
This is a quick update on the PRP injection I had in my right elbow at your office early April:
Injection: Very little pain during the injection.
Post Injection: Max pain reached about 30 minutes after injection… very intense. Subsided fairly quickly thereafter. Manageable without medication within 24 hours.
Injection Site: Noticeable swelling and discoloration at injection site. Limitation on range of motion for several weeks. Injection site very tender for 3-4 weeks. In hindsight, I believe I could have mitigated some of the injection site trauma with ice pack treatments the first 48 hours.
Tendonitis: Significant improvement in the condition of the elbow after 4 weeks. I did not do anything with the arm during that period, so we can’t eliminate the “rest” variable from the equation, but the results are still impressive. I played golf at 4 weeks… no pain at all. I estimate 50% recovery at this point. I intend to take it easy on the arm for another 2-3 weeks, and then re-evaluate.
My belief is that a 2nd injection in another 4-5 months might fix the problem.
Thanks again for your help, and give me a call with any questions. Perry
Epidurals
I would like to take a moment to say a sincere “thank you” to Dr. Wolff and his wonderful support staff. Your treatments have resulted in major improvements in the quality of my life. Thanks to your epidural spine treatments my degenerative spine disease has remained under control and has eliminated any thoughts of having major back surgery any time in the near future.
The injections have done a fantastic job of eliminating my lower back pain. The epidurals have been so effective that typically I can go 5 to 8 months without ever reaching for an “over-the-counter” pain reliever let alone a prescription drug.
Let me give anyone considering trying epidural injections a very important piece of advice: Don’t give up on epidurals if the first injection doesn’t result in totally eliminating your pain. Sometimes the location point of the injection has to be adjusted slightly to be truly effective. My advice is: Don’t give up if the first injection doesn’t totally eliminate all discomfort. A small change in the injection point can have fantastic results. So, don’t give up if the first treatment isn’t 100% effective. The next procedure may be the one that eliminates your pain for many months. I can promise you this: the professionals at Southwest Spine & Sports won’t give up on you if you won’t give up on them. A little patience can result in a major improvement in your health and your outlook on life.

I want to thank & recommend Dr.Lata Kumaraswamy. After enduring severe lower back pain for several weeks, I went to Dr. K. She suggested I have an Epidural. A year ago I had the same problem. Dr. K did an Epidural at that time. I felt nothing during the procedure & my pain was immediately gone. I just did the Epidural again, with similar results. I am pain free thanks to Dr. K. She is great!
—Bernadette M.
I have been seeing Dr. Wolff for a few years now and his epidurals have changed my life. I have spinal stinosis and was in severe pain in the rear of my thighs and since I’ve been his patient, I am a new man. The treatment usually lasts 6 to 8 months. When I notice a bit of a relapse, I call and am usually taken care of right away. My wife says that after my treatments, I look and act 10 years younger. This has been the most helpful and successful treatment of my life.
Many thanks to the incredibly talented Dr. Wolff
— David L.
After 6 weeks of constant pain consults with an ortho doc & BNI, it was decided that the best course ot action for me was pain management. When my wife, an OR nurse, heard this she made an appointment with Southwest Spine & Sports. I was able to get an appointment right away. The staff is professional & courteous. Dr. Jones spent quite some time going over the MRI with me and discussed a treatment plan.
The procedure was scheduled for the following week. I was amazed that procedure itself only took about 15 minutes & was virtually painless. I was able to sleep that nite for the first time in weeks.
Thanks Dr. Jones.
I’m no fan of medical procedures and I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I lost some sleep thinking about having it done. From what I know now I wouldn’t think twice about having it done. If you’re in pain & they tell you this will help like the commercial says just do it.

I am a recent Arizona transplant from California. I was receiving epidural treatments there approximately every 3-5 months for recurring back pain. I was very anxious about finding a new doctor here in AZ. I found SWspine from a relative living here. I chose John C. Jones simply based on the resume info on the official website. As of today, 5 months from my first and only epidural in AZ, I recently visited Dr Jones simply to say I am still feeling pain free enough that I don’t feel we have to do anything at this time. He explained (again) that he found a very very difficult to access niche in my spine for the injection. Based on the fact that this is as pain free as I have been in years after 5 months, he apparently found an area for injection not accessed by my California Orthopedic physician. I simply could not be more pleased with Dr. John C. Jones. out of the 59th Ave Glendale office.

I am so afraid of needles it takes Xanax to even do blood work, much less the idea of an IV and injection in my neck. But it was so worth it! I have lived in pain for over 20 years from damage in my neck from a car accident. It took me 17 years and breaking down crying in the doctor’s office to even get a doctor to believe I was in pain. I have seen several “specialists” in the last 3 years, but Dr. Jones was the first to actually help. He was the first to recommend physical therapy, while it wasn’t a miracle cure, it got me out of the extreme pain and cramping of the latest crisis and made life bearable again. But this wasn’t enough for Dr. Jones. Most days the pain was a 4-6, what it has been for years. He did an epidural/cortisone shot in my neck and 2 weeks later the pain is a 1. I know that due to the damage it will always be there, but it no longer controls me or what I can do. It is amazing to not have to consider how I move my neck and head in every little thing I do!!! Thank you so much Dr. Jones and everyone at SWSS!!!!

Dear Dr. Wolff,
I want you to know that for the first time in about FIFTY years, after my cervical epidural I am pain free in my neck! I can’t thank you enough!

I want to express my sincerest gratitude to Dr. Sherman.
I had been experiencing sporadic back pain for many months, was on pain medications, and finally referred for physical therapy. I was seeing a well-known Physical Therapist who highly recommended Southwest Spine and Sports due to concerns of the nature of damage being other than muscular. Dr. Sherman ordered X-Rays immediately and then MRI’s of my mid and lower back. Upon investigation, he determined that it was mainly muscular and trigger point injections would help relieve some of the muscular tension thus making P.T. more beneficial. The pain lifted within days. I was making great progress and about to be released from P.T. but awoke one morning in severe pain. Dr. Sherman ordered an MRI of my neck. He found some issues which upheld his conclusion of a pinched nerve at the C-6 and C-7 area. Dr. Sherman himself, to determine the exact point of concern, performed an EMG. I am now making expedient recovery from that minor setback due to epidural spinal injections around the inflamed areas, also performed by Dr. Sherman.
My goals were to find a way to relieve the pain so I could get off the pain medication and do so without surgery if possible. Dr. Sherman not only performed the procedures but he also explained every single step along the way in such a comforting manner that this was actually a pleasant experience for me. Due to Dr Sherman’s expertise, his informative vocalizations, and his wonderful staff I am off pain medications and did not have to undergo any major surgery.
I like neither doctors nor taking medications and only go to the best. Dr. Sherman and his staff are highly professional and absolute gifts to the medical profession and definite assets to Southwest Spine and Sports. This meager testimony is a small fraction of the gratitude I feel. I attempted but feel no words can express my experience highly enough.
Rebecka L.
Dr. Komar “operated” on me for an epidural injection and did a beautiful job. I feel great today!

Lee P.
I injured my back in a fall and have spent the past three years trying to make it better. I tried physical therapy first with only minor relief and a so-so exercise program. Then I tried epidural shots and a new physical therapist (a really good PT can make a huge difference). The shots and PT helped a lot, but they were not a permanent solution to the swelling in the disk for me. I cannot take anti-inflammatories on a regular basis because they make me ill, so eventually the swelling would come back. Recently, when the pressure on the sciatic nerve returned, I had PDD (Percutaneous Disc Decompression) done to help clean out the bulge in the disk. It is done as an out-patient procedure and was very similar to the epidural shots. The doctor goes in at the same place in my back and cleans the disk instead of performing an injection. I left the surgery center an hour or so later with just two small Band-aids and a huge reduction in the pain. I had one more epidural shot about a month after the procedure to help alleviate the last of the pain and swelling, and I feel great. The new Back Jacket that you wear for a few weeks to help keep your spine straight and remind you to be nice to your back is very easy to use and comes with hot/cold gel pads to fit into it as needed. I am continuing with a great physical therapist to strengthen the muscles in my back and stomach, but I feel better than I have in three years and have returned to work in just 6 weeks.

I am writing this to thank you for giving me my life back! As you know, I was in the midst of true health, walking four miles a day, golfing three times a week, when by some “unknown” movement I ruptured a disc in my lower back. This disc put pressure on a nerve and I was pretty much immobilized. For three weeks I could barely walk to the bathroom, I sat on a stool in the shower because I couldn’t stand for even five minutes at a time. I was on the heaviest pain medication that could be prescribed and took it as frequently as possible. I basically sat in a chair for these weeks.
Then I was referred to your office. You immediately got me into an outpatient center and injected my spine with an epidural. I want to tell you how much I appreciated the staff that worked with me, both in your offices and at the outpatient surgery center. Everything was explained to me and the staff made as comfortable as humanly possible.
After this first shot, I regained some of my mobility and I was able to get off the heavy duty pain meds. I still did not have stamina, and I still had pain and numbness. This necessitated a second shot and within about five days, I was virtually pain free, regained mobility, and the numbness in my leg and foot all but left.
Within a couple of weeks, I was back to walking four miles a day. I wanted to send to you this letter of appreciation for your expertise in restoring my health. I would gladly recommend your services to anyone experiencing pain and or debilitating injuries. Thank you so very much for your time and consideration!
Sincerely, Michael B.
I have always thought of myself as an active, healthy person, with the ability to take on any problem, head on, even under the most difficult of circumstances, and produce a rapid resolution. That was until March 16, 2007, when without warning; my life took on a very drastic and immediate change.
Early that morning, I experienced pain and spasms that ran relentlessly from my left hip to the tip of my toes that was so overwhelming, any movement resulted in even more of the same excruciating pain. With that, I continued to suffer for three weeks, was moved from hospital to rehab centers, from numerous doctors and many MRI’s and there seemed to be no relief in sight.
For those who were willing to help, they knew little of what to do. That was until my wife got me an appointment with Dr. Michael Wolff, who upon the first meeting confirmed that he could provide some resolution and relief to my dilemma by performing an epidural. Considering I had one previously in the hospital, I was very pessimistic of his confidence, although he stated that the procedure I had previously was done blindly and he would perform this one with fluoroscopy, thereby getting the medication precisely to where it was needed. Willing to do or try most anything without any real optimism, I underwent my first of two epidurals. After the first epidural, and to my utter amazement, I was 50% better the very same day. Since then, I have had another epidural and am about 90% better and am optimistic of a full recovery.
Dr. Michael Wolff is still watching over me closely and in addition to providing a medical solution, he also listens and cares. Which I can confirm is considerably more than I have encountered with anyone in the medical profession throughout this torturous ordeal. For that, and so much more, I will be forever grateful to him.
My sincere, thanks and deep appreciation, Lonnie B.
A note of thanks! The 2 epidural injections you did for me worked beautifully! Thank you for your knowledge, skill, and great bedside manner. Your staff in the office and the staff at the Scottsdale Center were also excellent!
Thanks again- Janice B.
This is a small note to let you know how much I appreciate your expertise. With your three epidurals, I have had a considerable reduction in arm/hand pain. That gives joy back to my life. How can I thank you? What a gift to have that deep pain usually gone. Again, thank you, thank you, thank you,
Denise S.
I wanted to thank you for all of your help with my back. Althought the disc didn’t recede, you got me through the first quarter of the med school that I probably couldn’t have done without the epidural. I appreciate you also taking the time to get me into Dr. Harrington’s and getting me in for a 2nd opinion. It’s tough being new to the valley without a primary care physician to help me, which you did.
Sincerely, Jennifer J.
You’ll probably get a good laugh or two out of this letter, if anything, but I had to write to you!
After meeting you a couple of years ago, when you gave me the epidural injections in my neck from an auto accident I was in, during that time I had built a “trust” with you, that you would make sure I wouldn’t feel any pain during the procedure because you knew what a nervous wreck I was! Do you remember that? Good-grief! Anyway, you were right, I didn’t feel anything with my neck epidurals. Even though I was scared to death about having a needle anywhere near my spine. But you comforted me with your words and also knowing you’ve got “the best” reputation in town, I felt that I was in good hands.
Recently, I came in to see you about my lower back. After explaining the horrifying details of my past experience with injections in my low back from another doctor who did the procedure, you told met hings were different now. I wanted to have that same trust in you I had with my neck injections, but my low back was a whole different ballgame! Beause of the physiological damage from the past, it just wouldn’t leave my mind, even down to the minute that I was rolled into the surgical room to have the procedure done back in 1988, I had absolutely zero trust in the doctor that did the fist round of injections in my low back. But unlike that feeling of the past, you reassured me with your words and you told me everything would be so much better this time. I set my appointment to have the injections done.
Let me tell you Dr. Wolff, that week I waited for my appointment, I was a complete mess! I was more nervous than ever! When the day finally arrived, I broke down in my husband’s arms in the waiting room, telling him I didn’t know if I could go through it all again. But he reminded me that I couldn’t be in better hands! He reminded me of my neck injections and the trust I told him I had for you.
Well, it came time for me to go back and get all set up. The nursing staff was incredible! I was beside myself of the wonderful care I received, especially from Barbara. When I broke down again as I waited for my procedure, she came over and tried to comfort me. I told her I felt like an idiot, being almost 40 years old and I’m balling my head off over this procedure! But the one thing that I remembered was when you came out before I went back for my injections, and told me you’d make sure I wouldn’t feel anything… and you were right once again!
For the very first time in seventeen years, I am actually “pain-free” in my lower back! I can’t tell you just how thankful I am to be your patient!! Since my first round of epidurals in 1988 and not experiencing any relief what-so-ever from the injections I had, not to mention the horrible experience I went though, everything was completely different this time! Because I was in the skilled hands of you, Dr. Wolff! I’m pain-free!!! PAIN FREE!!!!! How awesome!!! I can actually sleep a full night now and I can lie on my left side again! I haven’t done that in 17 years!!
Thank you so much Dr Wolff for taking such good care of me and please thank your staff at North Scottsdale Ambulatory, the nurses were out of this world!!
Very truly, Shelly M.
Pain is a symptom that creates confusion, nasty disposition, and reactions difficult to describe. That was how I was for too long a period.
When Dr. Wolff first treated me for this condition, I was apprehensive. I had been to the Mayo Clinic and was told to take 2 Advil. I was given a shot of cortisone and send home- the pain persisted.
After one epidural, 90% of my pain was gone. I can’t praise Dr. Wolff and his expertise enough for the relief I now have. Thank you, your mother & dad – they did good!
Viscosupplementation
In March 2005, before I knew of your practice, I had a total right knee replacement. Most people I know need to have the other knee done within a year of the first. Thankfully I found you and your center, and Synvisc shots. Three and a third years later, my other knee is pain free and no surgery is needed. This last set of shots have lasted almost a year so far. Amazing!! Thanks so much!

A note of sincere appreciation for the excellent care we received from you, you are very thorough, a great listener and have a wonderful smile.
It has been 2 days since my cortisone injections and I am so hopeful that my reduced pain continues. I totally over-did my standing and socializing at Lindsay’s Thursday evening celebration, but was more sensitive yesterday. I am cautiously optimistic that some relief will continue.
Unfortunately, you haven’t seen the last of us as patients. Thankfully we ‘found’ you!
Best to you – Nancy (and Brad)
I just wanted to drop a quick note to let you know how things turned out since I last saw you for my 2nd cortisone injection last July. If you recall, I was having some irritation/aggravation issues in my anterior tibialis muscles. I am happy to let you know that my training went very well for the following six months. My leg held up in the face of 85 mile weeks and I just finished the Rock and Roll Marathon this past Sunday here in Phoenix with an official time of 2:56:56 for 83rd place overall out of 6419 total finishers (and top 20 AZ finisher!). This is 6 minutes faster than my previous best. Thanks for all your help and should I need your help again in the future, I won’t hesitate to stop in!
Thanks again, Jeff M.
Thank you so much for healing my hip and making it possible for me to move around again normally and comfortably.
In June of 2005, I could barely walk, because of the pain from arthritis in my left hip joint. Most of the time when I went to the grocery store, I had to use one of the electric carts to buy my groceries. You gave me two cortisone shots six weeks apart; after that, I felt great and could walk normally again, as if nothing had ever happened to me. I even entered the Ms. Senior Arizona pageant on March 6, 2006 at the Maricopa County Event Center, in Sun City, AZ and won. I had to model an evening gown, perform a talent, give my philosophy of life, and meet with the judges. I performed, (and still do) for many functions, my favorite being the singing of the National Anthem at a Diamondback home game. The whole experience enhanced my life, and I have to thank you especially, because without the treatments, I would never have been able to enter the pageant.
I will continue to recommend you to anyone who is in need of Sports and Spinal Medical Care.
Sincerely, Peggy B.

Discogram
Dr. Wolff is truly an amazing doctor with such a kind and sweet spirit. He cares that his patient is in pain. I remember the day I met Dr. Wolff, I went home, told my husband and called my best friend and told them that I found Dr. Right. I found the doctor that was going to help me. This came after 5 long years, 7 doctors (over 2 states), countless injections, MRI’s, shots, and incorrect diagnoses. I was told that I just wanted drugs, needed rehab, depression was causing my pain- oh, and that I was fat. If I would lose weight, all my pain would go away- well if I wasn’t in so much pain, I would be working out in the first place. I started coming to Dr. Wolff’s Tempe office and it took some playing around and figuring out what worked and didn’t work. I had the discogram done- not on the top 10 things to repeat in life, but it provided the information we needed. I know that I did have spine problems and that it wasn’t in my head like the other doctors said; it was in my back.
I am very pleased to report that Dr. Wolff has been wonderful and I am under good care. I am now down to about 3-4 out of 10 on the pain scale, whereas before it was 8 out of 10. Big improvements. I can play with my kids, do things I haven’t in years, and I feel better than I have in years. Words can’t express my thankfulness to Dr. Wolff. I always have to give him a big hug- he is the most wonderful doctor and I am so thankful for him- daily. By the way, I am down 25 lbs. and going to the gym 5 days a week, thanks to Dr. Wolff and his supportive staff.

Nucleoplasty/Percutaneous Disc Decompression (PDD)
In November of 2007, I pinched a nerve in my lower back at L4/L5. The pain would radiate from my low back into my left calf. The pain was so severe, I could not stand for more than 5 minutes, which kept me from being able to work, as I am a butcher. After months of pain and several injections without relief from pain, I was referred to Dr. Michael Wolff. On my first visit with Dr. Wolff, I felt like I was not just another patient, but a friend that he wanted to help. Within one week, I was scheduled for a Percutaneous Disc Decompression. I had this done May 23, 2008 at an outpatient center performed by Dr. Wolff and his staff. Within one week of the procedure, I was able to go to the grocery store with my family, stand with my kids while they rode their bikes, and walk through the mall. On June 23, 2008, I returned to work part time after 7 months of being out. It is now July 14, 2008, and I am working full 8 hour days. I feel like my life is getting back to normal. I am no longer depressed, and I feel like myself again. I owe this to Dr. Wolff and his staff at Southwest Spine and Sports. Thank you!
Thanks for everything, Conrado F.

IntraDiscal ElectroThermal Therapy (IDET)
If you have been told that the IntraDiscal ElectroThermal (IDET) procedure may help you, then you are one of the fortunate ones that Dr. Wolff believes will benefit from this procedure to restore your disc. My suggestion to you is that you say “Yes.” After first hearing of this procedure from Dr. Wolff, I went home and researched it over the Internet on several websites. From them I learned about the scientific rundown on what happens during and after the procedure, but there are no testimonials. I’ll admit that I was very nervous about going ahead with the IDET procedure even after going through a successful back fusion 18 years ago. It was just the fact that you must be awake to talk with Dr. Wolff while he works on the disc during this hour. When I got to the surgical center I received more information from the staff of nurses that work with Dr. Wolff which also helped to calm me down. That should make you feel more at ease, it did for me!
After prepping me for this procedure, which was inserting an IV into me and joking with the nurses, I waited by listening to my favorite music. Here I was going to have this disc repaired and it finally stopped hurting. So the joke was no sneaking out the back door. I walked into the room, got on the table and Dr. Wolff went to work. If you have had a back injection to relieve your pain then you have already experienced a big part of what he will be doing to you. The only difference is he must place a flexible catheter (wire) against the bulge in the disc wall to toughen it up and desensitize the area causing you all the pain. Once this was done I felt nothing! It was as if I was given a Novocain shot for dental work. Then the wire was placed in the center of my disc and heated to pull all the fluid back to the middle and shrink it down to normal size. After this was done, I got back into the lounge chair and was wheeled into the recovery area. I was told in about four hours my nerves would start to wake up; it took six for me. As they woke up there was no pain but my legs would twitch and jerk every now and then. This was definitely not what I was expecting to happen and I had a fantastic night of sleep. I was told that for the next two weeks I’d have to do a lot of laying around and could only get up to use the bathroom and feed myself. Saturday was my worst day of pain then the level continued to decrease until Thursday of the following week. At that time I put away all my pain medication. That is correct, no more pain! I started to go for short walks around the cul-de-sac, around the block and 12 days after the procedure I went for a two mile walk. Then seventeen days after the IDET procedure I went back to work on a part time basis. I wore my back brace once the IDET procedure was done for two months and gradually removed it from my daily attire. Today, two months after the IDET procedure, I am off all medications and no longer wearing a back brace!
I’ve been told that I am an exceptional case, but this could be you too. Say yes and you, too, could be fortunate enough to get rid of your back pain and enjoy life again!
Pauline
I want to say “thanks again” for the IDET surgery. When I had the visit with you in Tempe and chose to get the surgery, I remember you saying that it will most likely only take about 40-50% of the pain away. It was o.k. with me, because it would be better than I was doing at that time. Not long after the surgery, I felt better every day.
Things were going so well with my back about 3 or 4 months later when you told me that it looked like 80% of the pain would be gone if I took care of my back. It seems that the last month or so, if I really pay attention to how I move and my limits of movement, etc., I have -0-% pain. I’ve really learned a lot over the last year from you and the physical therapy.
If you ever have any patients that would have any questions about my “back problems” and my recovery after the IDET, I would love to share things with them. “Thank you very much.”

Radiofrequency Ablations
Back in November 2012, I had two radiofrequency ablation procedures for my neck pain. Dr. Wolff and staff did a wonderful job. I feel 95% better and ready to play golf again. HOORAY!!!!
—William S.
I had RFA on both sides of L3, L4, and L5 last August. Since then, I have been almost completely pain free. I can honestly say that Dr. Komar saved my life, as I was deeply depressed at the limitations my condition placed on me and had lost any hope of change. Not only did he fix the problem, he fought my insurance company for 8 months until they finally agreed to pay for the treatment. Dr. Komar is the most wonderful doctor I have ever had, and I will never forget what he has done.
—Sarah N.
After receiving RF Ablation on the left side then 3 weeks later the right side of my lumbar spine I am back to my regular activities that I have not been able to do for over 3 years! I had tried Physical Therapy twice, going to a chiropracter, trigger point injections with no pain relief over the years. The RF took about 2 weeks for the full effect and now I can lift my 3 year old daughter, sleep through the night, ride my horses for more than 10 minutes, take long walks and actually do core exercises. I have my life back and thank you for that.
Sincerely,
Tami P.
I was was stiff and in severe pain from three significant motor vehicle accidents. I could hardly move my neck and all my muscles were trying to compensate. I had daily headaches and weekly migraines. I recieved both the diagnostic cervical blocks and resulting consecutive ablations to my right and left neck. I noticed immediately a brightening of the room post proceedure. With each ablation proceedure, my mental fog I had been in had lifted even futher. I also noted that over a few months period all headaches diminished, range of motion increased, and muscles relaxed. I have been pain free ever since and I am very pleased with the results. The staff at SWSS were wonderful and Dr. Wolfe is an amazing physician who was honest about what he could do for me. I reccomend him whenever I can.

Dear Dr. Wolff & Staff of Southwest Spine & Sports,
This is a long over due Thank You, for giving me my “Quality Of Life” back. The Radiofrequency Ablation procedure has allowed me to finally be pain free. Pain had controlled my life for the past 15 years. At times, I lost hope wondering if surviving my prior car accident years before was the right out come. Pain interfered with my ability to function normally. Prior to the surgery pain made it hard to exercise, be a good mother, wife, friend and eroded my self esteem. Your office is designed to help the patient with all problems that pain causes in the same location. This allowed the doctor’s to communicate better and convenient for the patient. The staff was superior from the moment I walked thru the doors from Catherine at the front desk, the nurses, Dr. Wolf, Gretchen Post, Dr Breus the sleep doctor and Dr Griggs Acupuncture.
The Radiofrequency Ablation procedure was painless and with almost “NO” down time to recover. I had been from doctor to doctor for years. No pill helped enough. No suggestion or action made much difference. My chronic headaches and migraines are gone, my neck, back and shoulder pain are almost non existent and my Fibromialgia seems to of disappeared. I sleep well now and I am enjoying hiking and exercising agian. My outlook on life could not be better.
Thank you all for such professionalism, agressive follow thru, the doctors superior expertise in order to relieve my pain and problems. Also know that your sincerity in making me feel you “genuinly cared” was deeply appreciated.

I have been in pain for many years with my lumbar spine and upon falling earlier in the year, the pain became worse. Dr. Wolff suggested doing Radiofrequency Ablation on the L3, L4, and L5 disk area to control the pain. It has been 3 weeks since the procedure was performed and the pain is gone from that area. I wish I had come in years ago but I did not know anything could be done for the pain except diminishing it with Tylenol and stretching exercises. I am now back to exercising at the gym and doing all of the things that aggravated my back and feel normal again. Thank you Dr. Wolff for giving me my life back.
Leslie H.
On April 4, 2008 you performed a Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) procedure on my right L3, L4, L5 medial branch nerves. I had been suffering from lower back pain for a number of years. I woke up the next morning, and for the first time in years, was pain free. It is now three weeks later and I am still pain free. I want to say thank you and would recommend this procedure for anyone suffering from the same problem. I would also like to acknowledge the staff in your office and at the surgery center. They are very professional and also make you feel comfortable while going through these procedures.
Thanks, Jeffrey S.
Ultrasound/Fluoroscopy
Stem Cell/Regenerative Medicine
Hi Dr Wolff,
Hope all is well and you had a good Holiday. I wanted to up date you with my progress. So far so good, I think I told you that I am training for the GoreTexs Trans Rockie again this year. I started my training in November just small mileage about 10 miles a week nothing challenging. As of this month I am up to almost 30 miles a week doing a long 12-15 miler once a week. I have little issue with my back just a little soreness from time to time.
I am so grateful that you where able to help me get back on track. I have been taking it slow and steady and it seems to be paying off. I do take 3 advil the night before a long run and that seems to help keep any soreness at a minimum. Otherwise I feel great. You are my Hero!!!!!!!
I will keep you updated as my training continues. The real challenge will come when I run 20 mile’s in a day and back to back long runs. I will start doing that kind of mileage sometime around the month of March/April. The race isn’t until Aug. so I have plenty of time.
Thanks again for everything you have done for me.
Chat with you soon.
